Fantasy Football 2010 - QB's

An exclusive Shanafans.com feature leading up to the first official regular season game of the NFL season. We'll try to help you make your fantasy football decisions, today we're starting with the QUARTERBACK position.

1) Peyton Manning- Yea, yea, Aaron Rogers's pics have been all over every Fantasy Football mag, but bottom line, if you want to win, you need Peyton by your side. In his 12 year career, he has thrown at least 26 TD passes. Only twice has he thrown for less then 4,000 yards. You ask, is he durable? Guy hasn't missed his last 218 games.
Look for him to throw at least 30 TD's, along with 4,200 yards.

2) Drew Brees- As advertised, the reigning Super Bowl MVP shouldn't have a tough time trying to emulate his 32 TD season. An easy schedule, and a pass oriented offense makes this guy a safe bet on Draft day.

3) Aaron Rodgers- Trying to go against the consensus here. Everyone likes to pick the next best thing, and Rodgers is it. Last season, Rodgers out-dueled Brees, and Manning by 50 points in standard scoring leagues. He has weapons aplenty with Jennings, Driver, and Finley.

Throw in a great O-line and you have the total package. His mobility has helped him consistently find the open guy. Look for a bounce back, but beware he is one hit away from starting Chad Henne.

4) Philip Rivers- Mr. Reliable. Rivers has started every game the past four seasons as a starter. LT is gone and this is now Rivers's team.
Highly accurate, and highly efficient, Rivers has averaged 30 TD's in his four years as the Chargers QB. Look for him to take advantage of poor secondaries in the West. I like his chances at MVP this season.

Hey it's a prediction I can live with even if he doesn't win it.

5) Tom Brady- Tommy Terrific was Mr. Fantasy three years ago amassing 50 TD's and 4,900 yards. A brutal knee injury, and a less then stellar season a year ago makes Tom a very motivated man. Wes Welker is back to start the season, and Randy Moss is in a contract year. Look for big things out of Brady. He has a new favorite target in Julian Edelman, and we all know how much Belichick loves to throw the football. Brady will throw for 35 TD's, and the only reason he's not in my top three is the O-line.

6) Matt Schaub- Stump the Schaub led the NFL in yards (4,770), and has the nastiest wide-out in the league. I see another stellar season out of Matt considering he has zippy talent in the backfield. Expect Kubiak to light up the playcalling, and scoreboard behind the right arm of the law. Another 30 TD's is in his future.

7) Tony Romo- I hate to say it but the man in Big D has Big playmakers all around. Throw in rookie Dez Bryant and a stacked O-line, and you have the makings of an awesome 3rd round QB. 4,000 passing yards at least, to go along with 26 TD's makes Romo very valuable in all leagues.

8) Matt Ryan- I like this guy alot. He reminds me of Tom Brady. Makes excellent reads, and has one of the strongest arms in the league. Guy has superior talent all around him. Look for him to grow on his 23 TD's last year.

9) Carson Palmer- TO and Ochocinco, enough said.

10) Eli Manning- Guy has a rocket and should be available in the 6-8 rounds. Could have an emerging talent in Steve Smith, and Hakeem Nicks.

11) Joe Flacco- Anquan Boldin should stoke anyones passing game. Armed for a breakout and could climb up the ladder.

12) Brett Favre- Question is, will he stay retired?

13) Donovan McNabb- New surroundings in Shanahan's spread offense.
Still has something left in the tank

14) Jay Cutler- Mike Martz gets his hands on another gunslinger.
Wouldn't he be awesome, if he had some help at the wideout position?

15) Kevin Kolb- So raw, yet so sexy of a pick here. Take a chance on him if your league doesn't bend you over on INTs. Defenses will focus on him, so don't get caught from behind if he leaves you in the dust this season. Accuracy lacks, but the arm is there.

16)Chad Henne- Henne to Marshall. Get used to it. Big time arm, to go along with two studs at RB. That being said, this should open up the pass, and your loving it if your league rewards you with big pass plays.

17) Matt Cassell- I love this guy. Only in America can you go from a backup in college, to a starter in the NFL. Should fill in on bye week, but I like the intrigue that surrounds him.

18) David Garrard- Terrible team, terrible wideouts, but at least he has MoJo. Gotta love those down by 21 yards at the end of the game.

19) Matthew Stafford- Poise and moxy can help describe Stafford. TDs to INTs will define him.

20) Vince Young- He can run. Let me stress, he can run.

21) Ben Roethlisberger- Suspended for a fourth of your season. I like this guy, but it's hard to say what will happen when you have Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall in your huddle.

22)Alex Smith- Great second half of the year. Completing passes won't be too hard considering you have Crabtree and "The Duke," Vernon Davis lined up on the same side. Could soar in this revamped offense. Still this ain't your daddy's Niners anymore.

23) Mark Sanchez- Hmmm. handoff to Greene, pass to LT. You get the picture. Think Trent Dilfer of the Ravens.

24) Matt Leinart- Surprised he didn't compete in Dancing with the Stars. Hollywood has alot of critics to quiet this year. I would hate to see Derek Anderson supplant this former 1st rd talent. Could spell end of the road, but anytime you have Larry Fitzgerald to throw to, you'll be ok.
